The good news is the above list is a small sample of the cooking classes Urban Graze will be offering when they open in Millthorpe on July 12.
Joel Owen and Tarrah Laidman have been operating Urban Graze cooking classes in Sydney for the past four years – and are now bringing their unique skills to the Central West.
Joel has experience working at fine dining establishments such as Aria and Bathers Pavilion in Sydney, and Tarrah specialises in French cuisine and is also a pastry chef.
Not only are they establishing some very exciting cooking classes, which will be run out of newly built kitchens at the Millthorpe Motel, they are also taking over the top pub in the village, currently called Basalt.
And they have big plans.
As well as renovating Basalt, they are going to turn it back into a working pub, with beer on tap. They also plan to establish a kitchen garden restaurant, which means growing as many of the ingredients as possible for their menu.
The kitchen garden is currently being established behind Baslat, and will eventually be open to the public.
They hope to cater for both locals and tourists, and will aim to keep all mains under $30.
“Good, tasty, wholesome food,” is how Joel described the menu when I talked to him this week – and I like the sound of that.
He is aiming to keep the menu simple, creative and exciting.
They will also be hosting a High Tea in their dining room at the Millthorpe Motel on Sundays from 11am-4pm. Bookings will be necessary.
But if you would like to sample a little of what Urban Graze will be doing they are having an open day on July 11 from 12pm to 3pm. I think it will be well worth a visit.
