The diehard Oprah fans found out yesterday they had been selected as part of a 3000-strong audience after ballot results were posted at 6am.
Oprah will host two shows at the Opera House on December 14, with 3000 people to attend each session.
The Bathurst women will be attending the morning session and have to be at the Opera House by 8am.
Both were pinching themselves yesterday still coming to terms with the fact that they’d won the golden tickets.
“We’re in shock,” Robyn said.
Both women said they’ve been Oprah fans for years, watching her television show on and off whenever time permitted.
As soon as they heard about the Australian show, they both wanted to enter the competition to be part of the studio audience.
Sue registered to enter the draw on Friday, the ballot was held on Sunday night and their email came through at 6am yesterday.
As soon as Sue received confirmation at 6am, she texted Robyn.
“She woke me up with the news,” Robyn laughed.
The women have to go down to Sydney at least 24 hours prior to the show to collect their wrist bands. Tight security means they will have to produce photo IDs before they can get their tickets.
Robyn and Sue said it was starting to dawn on them how lucky they are.
“I think if we can win a ticket to see Oprah we can win the lottery,” Robyn said. “We’re actually going to go and buy a lottery ticket now.”
While the celebrity guest list at each session has yet to be confirmed, both Sue and Robyn have heard whispers that Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman will appear on the couch next to the American TV talk show queen.
“It’s going to be an Australian thing,” they said.
They’ve also heard stories about Oprah’s generous gifts to audiences but that’s not a priority for the pair.
“Just being there is good enough, if we were to get a gift that would be amazing,” Robyn said.
“I’d just be happy to get a DVD or video saying we were on television to take home.”
The pair plan to go down to Sydney the day before the show and admitted once they are in Sydney may go star-spotting to see if they can see Oprah anywhere.
