The project, designed by Bathurst Information and Neighbourhood Centre (BINC), was a partnership between several organisations to create a community project that promoted the Australian values of tolerance, a helping hand, a fair go and mateship.

Participants as young as five entered a variety of categories including soapbox, school soapbox and all rounders, with the more professional drivers competing in the pro-cart and super cart competitions.

Project co-ordinator Lisa Pierce said she was blown away, with more than 250 participants signing up for the inaugural event.
