THE small close knit community of Perthville is rallying behind the family of 28-year-old Richard Bowker who was killed last month in a car accident near Blayney.
The late Mr Bowker lived for his family, his wife Patrina and children Jeremy and Makayla.
His death occurred in a head-on collision between vehicles on Thursday, February 4 as he drove to start a night shift at Nestle Purina.
Richard's death left his family and friends shattered, something that residents of Perthville want to do something about, especially assisting his wife and children by raising money to meet immediate needs.
Perthville Hotel bar attendant Jo Short has arranged a fundraiser family day at the pub this Saturday.
"It's all for Richard's family, we hope to give them a bit of assistance," Ms Short said.
"Publican Mat Seaman will be organising live music, we hope families will turn up for a barbecue or attend the bistro.
"Flyers have gone out explaining what will be on, there will be a raffle with great prizes from Bathurst businesses who have been just fantastic giving vouchers and items for prizes.
"There will be an auction for a valuable motorcycle jacket that a lady had intended to auction off on e-bay. But she heard of the fundraiser night and gave it as a main auction article."
Ms Short said the fundraiser evening would be an opportunity for the many friends and workmates of Mr Bowker to make a contribution to help his young family.
