BATHURST City Colts will be one of hundreds of community cricket clubs across Australia sharing in the Vodafone Sydney Pink Test phenomenon this year by participating in Pink Stumps Day on February 18.
The day is an initiative of the McGrath Foundation and Cricket Cares, Cricket Australia’s community action program.
Last year’s inaugural Pink Stumps Day saw 665 clubs participate and more than $550,000 raised for the Foundation.
Bathurst City Colts will be hosting two events.
Club secretary Lisa Green said the Under 7s Kanga team will be “pinked out” and will hold a pink fundraser morning tea from 9am-11am during their game at St Patrick’s Sporting Club on February 18.
The club also plans to host a pre-game barbecue at Police Paddock 2 from midday, before the City Colts President’s Cup side - the current competition leaders - take to the field in pink. Supporters are also asked to wear pink on the day.
Volunteers will roam the field with a collection tin for donations and temporary tattoos in exchange for a gold coin donation.
All proceeds from the day will be donated to the McGrath Foundation to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia and to increase breast awareness in young women.
Bathurst City Colts Cricket Club will receive a Pink Stumps Day team kit valued at more than $500. The club now has the chance to win a visit from an Australia Cricket Legend to attend their Pink Stumps Day .
Anyone wishing to help with donations or raffle prizes is asked to call Ms Green on 0412 180 574.
