A 21-YEAR-OLD Bathurst woman charged with driving with a high range prescribed concentration of alcohol in her blood was placed on a 12 month good behaviour bond and disqualified from driving for two years when she appeared before Bathurst Local Court on Monday.
Nichola Bean, of Rankin Street, had a blood alcohol reading of .151 when she was tested by police after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into two parked cars at Newport last year.
The offence happened on September 18 after the defendant had been drinking at the Newport Arms, where Ms Bean said she had consumed four schooners.
Facts indicate there were numerous cans of VB scattered across the driver’s seat and throughout the vehicle. Police allege the accused stated: “I can’t believe I’m that high. I’m going to jail, aren’t I?”
The court was told Ms Bean’s father, who she lived with, had passed away in June.
Ms Bean was also before the court charged with driving with a low range prescribed concentration of alcohol in her blood earlier that year.
She was stopped by police at a stationary random breath testing unit on Harbord Road on April 22 and found to have a reading of .05.
For this charge Magistrate Jan Stevenson fined her $200 and disqualified her from driving for six months.
