THE man who admitted stabbing a woman 16 times last year at Kelso pleading guilty to murder, is also facing a manslaughter charge over the death of a man nearly four years ago in Sydney.
A Director of Public Prosecutions lawyer in Bathurst confirmed the manslaughter charge would also proceed after Michael John Faulkner, 40, entered his murder plea on Monday at the Bathurst Court House.
Faulkner has been remanded in custody for sentence on a date to be announced in the Supreme Court over the death of Julie Ann Dawson, 37.
Ms Dawson was stabbed 16 times between 8pm and 10.30pm on Friday, May 9, 2008 at the house she shared with Faulkner in Miriyan Drive, Kelso.
The court heard the couple had an argument at Bathurst RSL Club shortly before Faulkner arrived home to find the doors locked. He had broken a back laundry window to enter, then took a large knife and stabbed Ms Dawson.
Faulkner had the manslaughter charge laid against him in December last year over the death of Jacob Van Megen about 8.08am on July 13, 2003 at Ashfield.
Mr Van Egen fell down a flight of stairs sustaining serious head injuries believed to have been the direct cause of his death, the DPP will allege.
Documentation of the manslaughter case was being prepared to be forwarded to the Supreme Court the DPP said.
