SUZANNE Wallace and Bruce Herbert have a simple, heartfelt message for their missing boy: “We love him, we miss him and we wish he was home.”
Mrs Wallace and Mr Herbert are terrified something horrible has happened to Andrew Russell.
The 23-year-old was reported missing on June 21 and the pair want him to know they want him back with them.
“But if he does see it [today’s newspaper] and he sees his father, he wouldn’t want to see his father hurting like this,” Mrs Wallace said yesterday.
Mrs Wallace, who is Andrew’s stepmother, yesterday said they were desperate for any information on his whereabouts and are not convinced there was nothing suspicious about his disappearance.
“I think there’s more to it. Because if he just collapsed where is he?” Mrs Wallace said.
Andrew suffers from a liver condition and is supposed to take his medication daily.
Mrs Wallace said the last time they saw their boy was at his dad’s 40th birthday in early June. She said Andrew is often in and out of hospital and when they hadn’t heard from him that’s where they assumed he was.
“But the doctors usually ring us to tell us how he is but when we decided to call them to check they said he wasn’t there,” she said.
That’s when they realised something was very wrong.
Mrs Wallace found it difficult to talk about but said it was unlike Andrew to take off and she said not knowing what happened is the hardest part.
“He is not in any of the hospitals. Somebody’s got to know something,” she said.
“He was last seen in blue jeans, a blue and red Nike jacket, a black cap and some white shoes.
“We’re very worried. Not knowing anything is just heart breaking.
“A lot of people knew him around town. He was a very happy boy.”
His parents said Andrew is a good kid and they have no idea where he has gone.
Andrew is of thin build and about 175 to 180cm tall, of Aboriginal appearance with brown shoulder length hair and dark eyes.
His skin is jaundiced due to his liver condition.
Mrs Wallace and Mr Herbert pleaded that anyone with information on Andrew’s whereabouts, or who has seen someone matching his description to contact Bathurst Police Station on 6332 8699 or call them on 0412 656 748.
They said any information, even if it is given anonymously from a pay phone, will be welcome.
