Member for Bathurst Gerard Martin has welcomed the announcement by New South Wales Minister for Rural Affairs Tony Kelly that Hill End will be one of the first 11 communities to be hooked up to high-speed broadband under the Community Broadband Development Program.
To date the prospect of affordable reliable
high-speed broadband has not been a reality for communities such as Hill End said Gerard Martin.
The New South Wales Government has
provided almost $12 million to deliver affordable high-speed broadband to the more isolated
communities in our State continue Gerard Martin.
This will give those communities equity with larger regional and city communities and allow businesses to develop and ensure that the general community has good communications with the outside world.
Hill End residents will now be able to encourage people to visit and support their huge tourism potential knowing that they will have reliable
communications.
The process has involved community consultation and this process is continuing with the
development of business cases and technical plans, which will be then followed by the building of a high-speed wireless network, said Gerard Martin.
The community Broadband Development program is part of the State governments building that Country which has allocated $85 million to assist country communities grow and prosper.
