THERE’S something special about Kurt Fearnley.
Already a dual Paralympic gold medallist, the boy from Carcoar is about to face one of his greatest challenges.
He is set to grace the world stage at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and will compete in the marathon, 10km, 1500 metres and 4 x 100 metres relay.
Tonight viewers around Australia on ABC1 will be able to get to see another side to Fearnley.
He will join super model Megan Gale as a guest on the Andrew Denton-hosted Enough Rope program.
The interview was filmed earlier this month with family and friends in the audience.
According to the show’s producers the interview went for more than an hour and was one of the best recorded for the show.
“It was a fun afternoon [filming the interview],” Fearnley said. “Andrew Denton is a warm and funny character.
“He brings things out of you that wouldn’t normally tell someone in that type of setting.
“You forget you’re surrounded by cameras and there’s an audience watching. We spoke about so much stuff it’s hard to remember what I said. I hope I didn’t give too much away.”
Fearnley said he’s looking foward what Beijing might hold for him.
“I’m not nervous, just really excited,” he said. “I can’t wait to get there. So much can happen.
“I’d like to finish with gold on the track, but I really would love to win the marathon and defend my title. I’ve pushed myself for the past four years for this.”
