A SMORGASBORD of delectable delights for car lovers, motorbike enthusiasts and intrepid collectors were on offer at the annual Bathurst Swap Meet yesterday.
Thousands of people headed straight to the Bathurst Showground to either look for a specific item or to cast their eyes over the numerous tables and stalls full of items just in case something caught their attention.
Everything from motorbikes and cars to spare parts, toys, kitchen items, old magazines and books and even some unique letter boxes could be found.
Bathurst Historic Car Club's Mick Hope said while the storm clouds scared some people away all in all everyone involved were once again left happy.
"The turnout is a lot better than we thought it would be because of the weather," he said. "The number of store holders we have are definitely down because of the weather, but the number of people here is looking up. Overall everyone is pretty happy."
Mr Hope said without official confirmation he did not know how many people had attended the annual event, but added he was confident crowd numbers were up on last year.
"We've had a lot of lookers, people coming up and asking what is going on here," he said.
"I've even bought a few toys for myself as there is plenty to find."
Hosted by the Bathurst Historic Car Club, the swap meet is one of the largest in country New South Wales enticing sellers and buyers from all over the state.
"Most of our club members are here and we've all about had enough," Mr Hope joked.
"We're all getting pretty tired as it is pretty hectic, we've always had someone standing here doing nothing, which is good to have.
"We are already planning for next year as we always try to make them better for everyone."
While an early afternoon shower put a dampener of the day, Mr Hope said he was delighted with the attitude of the stall holders and members of the public.
"The highlight was that everyone coming in was pretty friendly," he said.
"A lot of people know that we give a fair bit of the money raised away to the local charities.
"It is a big money earner for the club, it covers all of our running expenses for the 12 months, and then we donate the extra to other charity groups."
