The volunteer organisation is the beneficiary of the first-ever My Recipe Rules competition as all proceeds from the cook book will go to RDA.
RDA coach Melinda Gavin only recently learnt they were receiving the proceeds and was over the moon with the prospect.
“We rely on donations to keep us going,” she said.
“We are very appreciative of the Good Guys getting behind us again as they have supported us for the past few years, and any money we will receive will be of great benefit.”
The RDA not only helps Carenne School students, but also students from Eglinton Public and Bathurst Independent Living Skills. The school has eight horses and also donkeys, rabbits, sheep, pigs and goats.
“Animals are used for therapy for children and they just love to interact with them,” Ms Gavin said.
“On Saturday we will have a goat, rabbits and a sheep at the Good Guys so people get to see them and can have a pet.”
The cook off is Saturday from 11am-1pm.
RDA volunteers will be running a barbecue and proceeds from the sausage sizzle, the cook book and jumping castle will all go to RDA.
“It is wonderful we are getting the proceeds from the cook off and the rest of the activities, all the money will go towards the upkeep of the animals,” Ms Gavin said.
