Rodeo tipped to be a great day

09 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
FOR more than 40 years people have been flocking to Rockley for the annual rodeo and this year organisers are tipping it is going to be one of the biggest to date.

Max Hire are the major sponsors for this year’s event and branch manager Shelley Ovenstone said they are excited to be part of the major event.

“This is the first time we have been associated with the Rockley Rodeo and we know it is going to be a fun day” she said.

“Some of the sponsorship money and money raised is going to Cancer Care Assist and we are proud to be part of that.”

The Rockley Rodeo will be on Saturday March 3 from 1pm and people will notice changes to the layout which improves the room around the arena and the spectators view.

Top seeded rodeo competitors will be matched with some of the toughest rodeo stock in the country and the ever popular yard dog trials and a quick shear competition are sure to draw crowds.

Action starts with the junior events, followed by bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding.

There will be a licensed bar as well as food stalls, markets and kids rides and after the rodeo a follow on party with live music at the Rockley Hotel from 7pm.

All proceeds will go to Cancer Care Assist and putting lighting in Steven’s Park in the centre of Rockley. Entry is $12 for adults, $8 for children and pensioner or a family pass is $30.
