Two of the young athletes, Casey Valentine 14 and Toby Taylor 13, have travelled all the way from Victoria to be a part of the gravity-fuelled event being held this weekend on Mount Panorama.
They say it has been totally worth it.
Control Skateboards has put together a portable street course for the event designed to put everyone to the test.
Organisers believe it will be on the scooter street course over the next couple of days that the “next big thing”will be discovered. “Who knows, maybe Isaac Newton himself rode a scooter – whatever he got around on it would have been gravity-charged, just like our festival,” a spokesperson said.
Toby, who has been riding scooters competitively for the past two years, said he has been looking forward to the weekend. “It’s such a big festival,” he said. “Having scooters involved this time is really great.”
Casey said he is going to have a good time at Newton’s.
“I’m just enjoying getting on my scooter and doing tricks,” he said.
