And at a time when doctors and specialists are in short supply in regional areas, Bathurst will retain the services of Tharini Thayaparan.
Ms Thayaparan has spent her last two and a half years at the George Street medical practice and said she decided to stay in Bathurst because her husband found a job here.
“My whole family is staying in Bathurst. It’s a nice place compared to Sydney,” Ms Thayaparan said.
“My husband got a job with the Department of Lands. If you can both work in the same place that is good. But if your partner is not a doctor it is difficult getting a job here, especially with the economic crisis.”
Ms Thayaparan will be continuing on at the George Street medical practice.
The six graduating registrars were Leela Avva, Zakir Hossain, Ruanna Levi, San San Myint, Jyothi Reddy and Tharini Thayaparan.
