Organising committee chairperson Judy Bayliss said the aim was to involve some of the local wine producers and add another dimension to the weekend.
“There will be 10 gardens open over the weekend of October 30-31,” Mrs Bayliss said.
“Visitors will be able to taste local wines in some of the gardens.
“Adelong Park has teamed up with Vale Creek Wines; Bishop’s Court with Stone Pine Distillery; St Anthony’s Creek with Winburndale Wines, and Renzaglia Wines with Appledore.”
This year’s spectacular involves predominantly rural gardens, as well as some town gardens.
“All of the gardens will be open from 10am to 4.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday,” Mrs Bayliss said.
“Refreshments will be available at Miss Traill’s House, The Folly at Yetholme and Hillandale.”
Over the years, the Bathurst Spring Spectacular has injected thousands of dollars into the local economy.
Mrs Bayliss said groups from as far afield as Quirindi, Cooma, Cowra and Galston had expressed interest in attending this year.
The main beneficiary of the 2010 event will be Bathurst headspace.
Headspace provides young people aged between 12 and 25 with access to free services, including primary care, mental health, alcohol and other drug counselling, educational and vocational assistance, women’s health, sexual health, exercise physiology and dietetics.
“We will also be making a small donation to the Macquarie Philharmonia and to the development of the garden at Bathurst Independent Living Skills,” Mrs Bayliss said.
Tickets for this year’s Bathurst Spring Spectacular are $15 or $10 concession, and include admission to all gardens for both days. They will be available from the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre a week prior to the event.
During the Spring Spectacular weekend, tickets will be available from the Visitor Information Centre, Miss Traill’s House, Appledore and The Folly.
