THE latest version of the Western Advocate - the e-newspaper - is not only great news for readers and advertisers, it's also great news for the environment.

"The e-newspaper is a carbon friendly product," editor Murray Nicholls said.

"It is printed without a press and it is delivered without a truck."

Although the Western Advocate is printed on recycled newsprint, it is still old technology that creates more carbon than an electronic version.

The elimination of freight also reduces carbon emissions and is another "green" reason to subscribe to the e-newspaper.

The big bonus for advertisers in the printed newspaper is their ads appear in the e-edition for no extra cost.

"This is really exciting news," says advertising manager Erin Peacock.

"We are delivering their message to even more readers, which can only help their business."
