Fending off the strong challenges from Switzerland’s Rebekkah Gemperle and Anne Harding, Davies raced to victory on the 1.3 kilomatre track.

“This is the first time I have seen this track and it has to be one of the coolest I’ve been down,” she said.

“Everyone is fair game on here as it is so technical and quick.

“I fell off my board a few times on the first day but as my confidence grew I got better.”

The Danger Bay Champion in 2006 and 2007 as well as the 2009 Festival of Speed World Cup Champion, Davies has raced and won in races all over the globe.

Despite once breaking her collar bone right before a qualifying run, Davies rode her luck during the three day event and came away delighted with her efforts on the tough Mount Panorama track.

“One of the best things about this track is that it is made for racing,” she said.

“We we normally race on an access road or a street that has been closed off but here the corners are quicker, the transitions are quicker – it is just great.

“I rate this track high up with some of the best I’ve ever been on.”

Davies added she was particularly happy to have come away without any major injuries considering others like Rebekkah Gemperle suffered factured wrists from hitting the hay bales.

“On day one a lot of people had trouble staying on their boards and there were a few crashes,” she said.

“It is a tough thing about our sport, we have a lot of girls coming in but then they get injured and you never hear or see them again.

“Crashes are just one of those things where you just need to get back up and get rolling again.”

After being crown the new world champion, Davies revealed she still had trouble dealing with her celebrity status but was slowly coming to terms with her new found fame.

“I still find it odd when people recognise me, even in my home town,” she said.

“I feel a bit rude as people come up to me saying ‘your Brianne’ and I have no idea who they are.

“The recognition is something that I still have to get used to.”
