There is still plenty of confusion surrounding the end result of the BDCA Twenty20 match between the Sunday Sippers and Oxford at Morse Park 2 on Monday.
Discrepancies in the scorecards from both innings mean that the outcome of the crucial match is unknown.
Oxford captain Chris Novak won the toss and elected to bowl first and the Sunday Sippers set about creating a big total.
"They were hitting out really well at the start and looked like they were going to get a big total, but in the middle our bowlers started to tie them back a bit and they held them back well at the end," Novak said.
Leroy Bourke and Hayden Ellis proved to be strong with the ball for Oxford.
At the end of the innings there was confusion as to the final score that the Sunday Sippers had made with the bowling side of the scorecard totalling 137 and the batting side 140.
It was agreed that 137 would be the target that Oxford would chase and they opened with a strong partnership.
"We started pretty well, Aaron Bell and Bourke opened well and they put a 50 run partnership. We didn't lose a wicket in the first seven overs but we had a few slow points as well," Novak said.
"With one over remaining it looked like we needed 11 runs to win and we didn't get that, we were five or six short but when we looked at the scorebooks, one said our score was 135, the batting side [of the scorebook] added up to 145 and the bowling to 140."
The match umpire took the book and the BDCA will now have to decide the outcome of the match, which is being eagerly awaited by both sides.
"It's not a great situation to be in but it's out of our hands now and in the hands of the BDCA, they will have to decide the outcome," the Oxford skipper said.
"We were working hard to get into the plate final and we figured if we could win this game and our next one as well then we should have been able to do it.
"We will just have to wait and see now, hopefully we can find out soon so we can make preparations for our next game. Our goal is to make the plate finals and do as well as we can for the club."
