Trainer-Driver Bernie Hewitt’s Shenanigan Shannon has strengthened as one of the favourites in tonight’s Barrier One Media P.J. Hall Memorial at Penrith.
The Georges Plains trainer will start from barrier one in the $15,000 race with aspirations of bettering his third place at the same track on November 6.
In that particular race, Shenanigan Shannon was stuck one out and two back on the bell lap and finished seven metres behind Saucy Legend (NZ) with Cheeky Sovereign in second.
However, six days later from gate two Shenanigan Shannon, the Armbro Operative (USA) x Cordon Franco brown gelding, produced a first place run at Bathurst Paceway to beat Steve Turnbull’s Lucky Xample by 1.8 metres with Metaphor third with a mile rate of 2.00.07 minutes.
While Shenanigan Shannon may have a good draw on the inside of the track, Hewitt will have to overcome the likes of Saucy Legend (NZ) starting from barrier two, Lucky Xample from four with Cheeky Sovereign applying pressure from the second row.
