Councillor Jess Jennings this week handed over his $200 in winnings from his third placing in the Wattle Flat Bronze Thong.
The total was boosted by $100 in sponsorship from The Hub, giving Veritas House an extra $300 towards Christmas gifts this year.
“Veritas House provides a fantastic youth support service that directly and indirectly helps our entire Bathurst community, so I urge any Bathurstians who can financially afford it to think of those less fortunate by adding to the modest fund The Hub and I have initiated,” Cr Jennings said.
“Christmas should be a special day for every kid in Bathurst regardless of his or her circumstances, and this is a genuinely effective way to make that happen.”
Manager Jody Pearce said Veritas House was a small, not for profit organisation that provides a range of services to vulnerable children, young people and their families.
“The Bronze Thong prize money plus The Hub’s donation will be used to buy much needed Christmas presents for the kids residing at the youth refuge and receiving youth outreach services,” Ms Pearce said.
“The festive season can be difficult for the kids at our youth refuge, but Veritas staff always try and make the festive season special.”
Anyone wishing to add to the Veritas House Christmas present fund can contact Jody Pearce directly on 6332 3882, or just drop in to the Keppel Street office.
