A number of forests have been closed across the central west today due to the severe fire weather expected.

The forests closed include Ben Bullen, Blenheim, Canobolas, Dog Rocks, Essington, Falnash, Glenwood, Gurnang, Hampton, Jenolan, Kinross, Lidsdale, Lowes Mount, Mount David, Mount Macquarie, Mullion Range, Newnes, Neville, Pennsylvania, Roseberg, Sunny Corner, Turon, Vittoria, Vulcan and Wolgan.
Forestry Corporation Macquarie regional manager Gavin Jeffries said the closure restricted all access to the forests.
“The weather conditions expected pose a real threat of fire and so to protect the safety of forest users, our contractors and staff the forests will be closed for 24 hours,” Mr Jeffries said.
“No hunting, camping, motorbike riding or any other recreational use is permitted in the forest during the closure.”
Timber harvesting, haulage and chipping operations will not take place in these forests during the closure period.
Anyone found within the forests during the closure could face a fine of up to $2200.
