Donal Hanna, 28, of Joubert Drive in Abercrombie, crashed into a motorbike in the inner-city suburb of Paddington.
He appeared unrepresented before magistrate Jan Stevenson in Bathurst Local Court, where he was disqualified from driving for a period of four months and one week.
Facts sheets tendered to the court told how, on May 26, Hanna was driving along New South Head Road in Paddington when he collided with a BMW motorbike at an intersection.
After the collision a third car, a black BMW, collided with the rear of Hanna's car.
As a result of the collision the motorbike was badly damaged.
Police attended the crash and tested all three drivers, with Hanna returning a positive result.
He was arrested and taken to Kings Cross police station for a breath analysis which returned a reading of 0.98, placing him in the mid-range.
Hanna told police he'd been on a "massive bender" and had an unknown quantity of vodka and Red Bulls the night before and had not eaten at all.
He told the court he understood the offence carried a disqualification.
Ms Stevenson asked about the damage to his car, the motorbike and other vehicle, and he told the court he had to pay costs in the vicinity of $8500.
The court heard that Hanna had surrendered his licence at the time of his arrest, and had been travelling to work at Cadia mines by bus.
In sentencing Hanna, Ms Stevenson took into account the time Hanna has already been without a licence and further disqualified him from driving for a period of four months and one week. He was also placed on a Section 9 Bond for a period of six months.
