Twenty-five-year-old Michael Nadwie and his partner Amber Borusiewicz have started a Pizza Capers franchise in Bathurst. Michael’s brother, Andrew, is a silent partner in the business.
The couple love Bathurst and said they would like to raise a family here.
Michael has worked in the pizza industry for 15 years. Part of that time was spent as the manager of a 500-seat pizza restaurant in Sydney. He said he really loves interacting with people and serving them.
Michael said he and Amber do a lot of work in the store so they are able to give the food a lot of love.
“Your customers are like your family who come visiting,” he said.
Michael said Pizza Capers was started by two of his close friends in 1996. Amber was a business manager for the company and based in their head office.
“That’s how we met – through Pizza Capers,” Amber said. “From the start it was such an exciting place to work. It was a bit quirky and so was I. “I think it’s a chance for Bathurst to experience a gourmet pizza range that uses the finest ingredients that we source both locally and nationally.
“We use black angus steak, lamb from Tasmania and we dry our own tomatoes in house. Our variety is great, too, ” she said.
Amber is originally from Cairns and Michael from Sydney.
They said they have found the people in Bathurst lovely and described their local staff as a great bunch.
“We have found the perfect location in the heart of Bathurst,” Michael said.
Pizza Capers opened last week in William Street and already one of the customer favourites is the reef and beef with cajun prawns, black angus beef, lemon pepper and hollandaise sauce. The bourbon barbecue chicken is also a winner with its mushrooms, Tasmanian blue cheese, bourbon sauce, ranch dressing and two chicken wings.
To finish they offer a delicious hand-crafted ice cream range including salted caramel and malt crunch.
