Preliminary HSC Dance is a “shared course” taught at Bathurst High campus in 2013, meaning students from Kelso High have also travelled into town to study this course.
The dance group will be performing their item Watching You Leave, and was selected for the State Dance Festival after their excellent performance at the Regional Dance Festival held at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre in June.
Dance teacher Catherine Reid said it was an exciting time for the students.
“The students have been working very hard on this performance all year and have collaborated really well, especially coming from different campuses,” she said. “Many of these students performed in the Schools Spectacular together last year which helped them bond as a dance ensemble before the start of Year 11.”
While in Sydney for the State Dance Festival on September 3, the group will also be participating in several workshops, hopefully being taught by Courtney Horton, an ex-student of Bathurst High who has studied in Miami.
