The Bentinck Street centre opened yesterday and, already, more than 400 people have cast their vote in the 2013 federal election.
Early voting is available for residents who may be out of town or unable to vote on election day. You can either vote in person before election day at the early voting centre, or by post.
Fines apply to eligible Australians who don’t vote.
Nine candidates are contesting the seat of Calare: John Cobb (The Nationals), Billie Kirkland (Katter’s Australian Party), Ian Lyons (Christian Democratic Party), Jess Jennings (Labor), Macgregor Ross (Independent), Brian Cain (Palmer United Party), David Mallard (The Greens), Anthony Craig (DLP) and Peter Schultze (Australia First Party).
Representatives for the candidates were stationed outside the polling place yesterday handing out how-to-vote cards.
The Bathurst centre is located at 98 Bentinck Street, next to Rangoli Indian Restaurant, and is wheelchair accessible.
It will be open from 8.30am to 5.30pm until Thursday, and from 8.30am to 6pm on Friday. The centre will have extended opening hours next week.
On election day, there will be around 20 polling places open in Bathurst.
