More than 90 retailers participated in the annual sale day, which traditionally marks the beginning of Christmas shopping in the city.
Western Advocate sales manager Erin Peacock said she was delighted with the response to the day, after receiving fantastic feedback from the retailers.
“It’s been awesome,” she said.
“People were out in droves, it was great to see everyone grabbing the bargains.”
Mrs Peacock said retailers embraced the pirate theme.
“It was International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and a fun theme, everyone really got into it,” she said.
“It was great to see the CBD so busy, and to see local people supporting local business.”
Blake Bowman was the lucky winner of a $300 cash prize thanks to a lucrative Scratch and Win ticket, which he got after making a purchase at Nifty Fifty.
At lunch yesterday, the $200 ticket had yet to be claimed.
Five lucky shoppers will also win $100 cash following the second chance prize draw which was drawn late yesterday.
Mrs Peacock said she couldn’t have been happier with the day.
“It was a beautiful spring day which only encouraged people to get out and about,” she said.
“I can’t wait until next year’s event.
“Next year, Crazy Day will be turning 10 so it’s going to be huge!”
Kristy Withers from Incy Interiors said there were 10 people lined up outside the shop before it opened yesterday.
“We announced our sales on Facebook last night and got about five million comments,” she laughed.
Ms Withers said the shop was hectic all morning as people scrambled to buy stock at 50 per cent off.
“There were three staff here and it was just crazy for us,” she said.
“Then we’d get a lull for about five minutes and it would start again.”
By mid morning, Ms Withers had already sold 11 beds and cots, plus of heap of children’s furniture.
“It’s been great and our customers have really loved it,” she said.
Mrs Peacock reminded people to go onto www.westernadvocate.com.au to vote for their best dressed business.
Voting will be open until 9am Monday. The business with the most votes will receive $200 cash.
