Daylight savings returns in the early hours of Sunday morning. Come 2am, residents will need to put their clocks forward one hour.
For some, it’s an initiative to look forward to with more time in the evenings before the sun goes down. For others, it’s not such a welcome change as it means they are getting up of a morning in the dark.
According to Weatherzone.com.au the sunrise for Bathurst residents will move from 5.37am to 6.37am. Sunset will be pushed back from 6.05pm to 7.05pm.
Western Advocate Rural Notebook columnist John Seaman said most of the farmers have no problems with daylight savings.
“When it was first introduced there was a bit of a city versus country attitude to it, but that’s changed these days,” he said.
“Most people don’t mind it, especially over summer, because you have the choice to work later in the evening or not.”
Michael Coote from WJ Coote and Sons Jewellers said daylight savings doesn’t present such a logistical nightmare at their store.
“We only have the one clock to put forward,” he said. “All the rest are set at the same time, 10.10. However, you can bet I will be busy on Monday or Tuesday next week because lots of people bring their watches in to get them wound forward an hour.
“Bring it in, and I will sort it out free of charge.”
