Michelle, who works in sales for The Professionals Real Estate, and runs her own online shoe shop, is wearing a different pair of pink shoes every day during October.
She decided to rise to the challenge after her boss, James Thompson, made a joke she should do it.
“It started off as a joke and then I thought [with the number of shoes I own] I could do this, so I did,” she said.
The decision was helped by the fact The Professionals Real Estate is a diamond partner and major sponsor of The National Breast Cancer Foundation, and has raised more than $2 million for the cause Australia-wide.
Michelle said The Professionals in Bathurst is not only selling Pink Ribbon merchandise, it is also trying to raise an additional $10 a day during October from people popping into the office to see her different shoes.
Michelle, who has had a shoe addiction since she can remember, which she said stems from her mother, said she was happy to use her shoes to put breast cancer awareness in the spotlight.
She is coy about the number of shoes she owns, but did say she has so many they are stored in her garage.
“I have a very understanding boyfriend,” she laughed.
“But put it this way, if there was a yellow month in November, I’d have enough yellow shoes to wear. I’d have enough until Christmas.”
