The most recent was a threatening phone call to Simplot’s Kelso plant on Monday morning that saw the factory evacuated for an hour as emergency services personnel conducted a mandatory search.
Chifley local area command duty officer Inspector Mark Wall yesterday said a 41-year-old man had been arrested and charged in relation to the incident.
He will also face court in relation to an incident last month where an envelope containing white powder was sent to a local business.
“As a result of information received, police executed a search warrant [on Tuesday] morning at an address in West Bathurst,” Inspector Wall said. “A 41-year-old man was arrested and taken to Bathurst police station.
“He has been charged with sending an article or item with intent to cause alarm in relation to a letter that was sent to an industrial premises on September 6 with a white powder in it.
“He has also been charged with using a telecommunications device to threaten in relation to Monday’s incident.”
The man was refused bail and will appear today in Bathurst Local Court.
