THERE was plenty of excitement at All Saints’ College yesterday as the school received some wonderful HSC results.
The 53 Year 12 students who sat the HSC achieved 25 Band 6 (90 per cent or more) results across more than 10 subjects.
Head of college Dr Peter Miller said the students were a solid year group who had worked hard for their marks.
“We had students in 34 courses and, of these, an outstanding 26 were at or above the state mean, some by astonishing margins,” Dr Miller said.
Dr Miller said he was pleased to see the students perform so well and noted that 18 students had already received early offers for university.
“It is great to see the students so thrilled with their results and great to hear what they are going to do next,” he said.
Dr Miller noted that it was wonderful to see former school captain Tara Chan make the Premier’s All Rounders List.
He added that fellow student Shaun Van Uum had placed eighth in the state for Design and Technology and had his work nominated for the DesignTECH showcase, while student Fiona Alamyar’s work was selected to appear in the Art Express exhibition.
Fellow student Daisy Douglas said she was ecstatic that she had received three Band 6 results and four Band 5s.
“I worked pretty solidly throughout the year and I really liked my school and subjects and wanted to make my teachers and family proud,” she said.
The 18-year-old is hoping to study vet science at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga but, before that, she will be heading over to England for a gap year.
“I’m so tired after 13 years of school and I’m definitely looking forward to a break.”
