The matter involving Matthew John Brownjohn, 21, of Mountbatten Street, Blackheath, was heard before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court last week.
Police facts tendered to the court told how at 3.10am on November 27 last year, police received information about an intoxicated driver about to leave the BP service station on the Great Western Highway.
Police attended the scene but were unable to locate the vehicle.
They headed east along the Great Western Highway to look for the driver.
As police drove through Walang they saw Brownjohn’s car and pulled it over.
A roadside breath test returned a positive result and Brownjohn was conveyed to the RBT truck which was at Kendall Avenue on the Great Western Highway, where he gave a reading of 0.100.
Brownjohn told police he had his first drink at 4pm on November 26 and his last drink at 11.55pm the same night.
He told police he had consumed five Jim Beam bourbon cans and three full strength beers during that time.
Mr Allen convicted Brownjohn, fining him $500 and disqualifying him from driving for 12 months.
