Melissa Jane Brown, aged 43, of the Oberon Caravan Park in Albion Street, Oberon appeared before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Police facts tendered to the court told how on March 14 this year Brown took her daughter to a disco at the Oberon RSL Club, which was on between 5 and 7pm.
She then left and went to a friend’s house where she consumed three long necks of Tooheys New.
When she returned to her van she found the victim lying on the bed.
Brown said to the man “you have to go, you can’t stay here”, as she had ended their relationship three days earlier in the belief he had cheated on her.
The victim then yelled at Brown, who was trying to get into bed, and said to her “you’re an idiot”.
As a result Brown punched the man in the mouth with a closed right-hand fist, causing the man’s mouth to bleed.
Police were called and attended the scene and removed the victim from the van. They also noticed Brown was heavily affected by alcohol.
Brown told police at the scene she wanted the man out of her van and gone from her life.
Police saw the victim, who was still yelling at Brown, had a split in his lower lip.
Brown made admissions to police that she struck the victim “because she wanted him to go, and get out of my life”.
Mr Allen dealt with the matter by way of conditional discharge, placing Brown on a Section 10 1b bond for a period of 12 months.
