Now, instead of having to wait for a helicopter to fly out from Sydney, the helicopter will take off from the base in Orange at night to transport patients to Orange Health Service or to specialist treatment in Sydney hospitals.
Twelve months after the NSW government identified the region had a case for a 24-hour service, the first night retrieval flights from Orange have begun.
Announcing the start of the additional service, member for Orange Andrew Gee said it was a victory for the intense campaign in the region by many communities over several years.
