BEGINNINGS: The Reverend Dr Brian Brown, Moderator of the Uniting Church in NSW and ACT, visited Bathurst to run a retreat entitled From Endings To New Beginnings. People attended from Lithgow, Oberon, Bathurst and Dubbo. Rev Brown was ordained in Bathurst in 1980 and ministered here until 1984. It was while he was chaplain at BHP Steelworks in Newcastle that he completed his Doctor of Ministry degree. His thesis was entitled Stronger Than Steel. Australian Men Facing Job Loss And Moving On.
