Anthony Richard Dent was added to the state's most wanted list on Friday following the discovery of the body of Anthony Thomas O'Grady in Wickham on March 26.

Mr O'Grady had inherited about $420,000 when his mother passed away last year, his housemate, the infamous "serial pest" Peter Hore told Fairfax Media last week.

His body was found by a woman walking a dog in Thomas Armstrong Oval about 8.20am. He was wearing nothing from the waist down except for a pair of black socks.

Officers said the manner in which his body was found did not suggest any links to a gangland killing.

Dent, aged 53, of Mayfield, is wanted on an arrest warrant for murder.

He has spent about 35 years of his life in prison on various charges including drug dealing, gun possession and dealing in the proceeds of crime.

In 2009, he was sentenced to three years and four months in prison after pleading guilty to seven charges including possessing unauthorised firearms, supplying drugs and dealing in the proceeds of crime.

Twenty-eight other charges relating to stolen property and drugs were taken into account.

A judge said Dent often received stolen property in exchange for drugs and often paid for drugs with contraband.

He used and supplied heroin, and prescription medicines were also found in his home.

Police have urged anyone who sees Dent not to approach him but to contact triple-0 immediately.

Dent is described as having a tanned complexion, 180-185 centimetres tall, 80-90 kilograms with a medium build, light brown hair or possibly a shaven head, blue/grey eyes and tattoos on his left arm.

Hore described Mr O'Grady as his "spiritual brother" and a generous and intelligent friend, but one who drank a lot, often to excess.

It was "stupid" of Mr O'Grady to tell random people about his inheritance but that was often how he got talking and drinking with people.

"He was that kind of person who would meet everyone and anyone in the street ... He knew a lot of people, but I was his only friend," he said.

Mr O'Grady was regularly seen wandering the streets of Mayfield and police were often seen at his house.

Mr Hore said his housemate was often brought home by police highly intoxicated by alcohol, but that he never touched any other sort of drugs.

He said Mr O'Grady had owned a boat and car, which were left parked at the front of the house for two years because he could not drive.

Hore is notorious for interrupting sporting and celebrity events.

His long list of stunts include gatecrashing the funerals of former INXS frontman Michael Hutchence and racehorse trainer T.J. Smith.

On Friday, he was arrested after allegedly storming a hearing at the Independent Commission Against Corruption in Sydney.
