There wasn't one player in Friday night's game, against the same opposition, that screamed out so loudly. But while the Academy team was beaten by 73 points – by a team featuring Ben Kennedy, Quinten Lynch, Tony Armstrong and Josh Thomas – plenty of players looked capable of graduating to the next level.

Angus Brayshaw played a busy, bullish game through the midfield, collecting 21 possessions and helping his team both get the ball out of trouble and push it forward. Tom Lamb was the most lively forward and didn't wait for the ball to come to him, working his opponent up and down the ground all game.

Lachie Weller, the brother of St Kilda rookie Maverick, played with class and a willingness to get the ball moving, with fellow midfielders Isaac Heeney, Jarrod Pickett, Christian Petracca, Jayden McGrath and Brad Walsh all showing promise around the middle.

Sean McLaren started on Lynch and finished with a team high seven hard-ball gets, while Hugh Goddard, a cousin of Brendon, was flicked between the forward and back halves.

Peter Wright, one of this year's highly rated tall forwards, took a couple of nice third-quarter marks, and the smaller Clem Smith played with some gusto, laying plenty of tackles.

Wright, Goddard, Patrick McCartin, Lamb and Sam Durdin are considered some of the stand-out talls this year, with the end-of-season order more even and open than it has looked at a similar point in recent seasons.

Boyd, Josh Kelly, Luke Dunstan, James Aish and Jack Billings are among the early-season AFL debutants who played for the AIS team in last year's game.

The Academy team will fly to London on Saturday night for the last of its four high performance camps, with Brad Johnson overseeing his first intake as head coach.

The team will spend a week in London, playing a game against a combined European side, then stay for five days in northern Italy at the Australian Institute of Sport's European training centre.
