Highway Patrol officers were conducting speed enforcement duties on Lambert Street around 10pm, when they allegedly detected a motorcycle travelling in excess of the speed limit.
Police will allege the white Yamaha YZF1000 was detected on radar travelling at 137km/h in a 50km/h zone.
The Highway Patrol officers activated all warning devices on the police vehicle and attempted to stop the motorcycle, however, the rider failed to stop and a police pursuit was initiated.
During the pursuit the rider allegedly overtook two vehicles at speed causing both drivers to take evasive action before he stopped outside a house on Bassett Drive.
The 31-year-old man was arrested and submitted to a search where he was allegedly found in possession of a large hunting knife. Police will also allege checks revealed he was disqualified from driving until 2019.
He was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with police pursuit-not stop-drive recklessly (Skye’s Law), drive in a speed dangerous to the public, drive while disqualified, exceed speed over 45km/h, and custody of a knife in a public place.
He was refused bail and will appear in Bathurst Local Court on Sunday.
