The Twitter hashtag '#ThreeWordBudget' trended in Australia with users succinctly uploading their thoughts on the Abbott government's cuts in just three words. Pensioners, university students, public servants and the sick are some of those affected by their tough savings measures.
Some users saw the funny side and took to the social media website to joke about the budget announcement.
"Pass the Grange? #threewordbudget" one account wrote, referring to the infamous bottle of Penfolds Grange 1959 that triggered the resignation of former NSW premier Barry O'Farrell.
General musings about the fate of the poor or 'peasants', as they are repeatedly referred to in the hashtag, also made an appearance.
