Well-known Bathurst identity Toni Daymond died late yesterday after a short illness.
For many years, Toni wrote the Benjamin Bookworm column for the Western Advocate and she will be fondly remembered for the laughs she brought to our office with her weekly visits.
Toni was also well-known and well-loved in the broader Bathurst community for her work with a number of community organisations, in particular the Seymour Centre and annual Highland Ball.
She will be missed by many.
Toni's funeral service will take place at St Stephen’s Presbyterian Church on Friday, May 30 at 11am.
From the Western Advocate Facebook page:
"Toni was instrumental in getting the library van services for Turondale, along with the late Councillor Kevin Fitzgerald and my late Grandmother. She was a valuable, friendly and wonderful person, who we grew up with as children at the library. She will be sorely and heartfully missed by many, young and old. My thoughts go out to Barry. RIP Toni. It's story time in heaven x"

"What a beautiful, genuine caring lady. Toni was a massive influence in our life, showing us what it was to have compassion. For several years my daughter Shannon Reedy attended ballroom dancing with Toni, and the room was always filled with laughter. We also attended several nursing homes, dancing for the patient, and there was nothing better seeing the smiles on the faces of the patients. Today an angel has found her wings, love you Toni"
- Tracey Reedy
