THE winds that whipped across the region yesterday settled overnight but the Bureau of Meteorology is warning that gale-force winds are likely to redevelop later this morning.

A low pressure system passed through Bass Strait on Tuesday and produced gale-force winds over southeastern NSW.
Winds eased overnight as the low moved away to the east.
A low pressure trough will cross southeast NSW this morning. This system is weaker than that of yesterday though gale-force winds are likely to redevelop later this morning in southeastern districts.
The gales will combine with snowfall over the Snowy Mountains to produce blizzard conditions.
Damaging winds around 60 to 65 km/h km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are forecast for parts of the Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and Snowy Mountains forecast districts, and possibly the Sydney Metropolitan area.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
- Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
- Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
- Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.
