THREE teenagers have been charged over the desecration of nearly 70 historic headstones at Bathurst cemetery last week.

Police arrested two 15-year-old boys and a 14-year-old girl on Saturday in relation to the damage to the historic headstones, which was discovered at Bathurst cemetery on Wednesday.
Sixty-six gravestones in the Catholic and Church of England sections of the cemetery were damaged, some of which dated back to 1886.
The gravestones had recently been restored by the Bathurst Family Hist-ory Group.
Police canvassed neigh-bouring areas following the discovery of the vandalism, and the Forensic Services Group took physical evidence from the scene.
The three teens were arrested on Saturday and taken to Bathurst Police Station.
One 15-year-old boy was charged with two counts of destroying or damaging property greater than $15,000 and received conditional bail to appear at a children’s court.
The other boy and the girl were charged with destroying or damaging property greater than $15,000. They also received conditional bail to appear at a children’s court.
