Well that is it for BathurstAM for Monday, July 21.
It is just two days until many Bathurst residents will find themselves waking up a little short on sleep with the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games to start on Wednesday.
Carcoar's Kurt Fearnley has been listed as one of the top 10 athletes to watch as he competes in the 1,500 metre wheelchair race.
He will be joined at the Games by fellow CSU graduate Ben St Lawrence, who will contest the 10,000m and Bathurst cyclist Mark Renshaw. He forms part of the Australian road race team.

Here is an update of some Bathurst police news:
In Bathurst there were two separate break and enters to a retirement village in Rocket Street Bathurst over the weekend. In both instances cash was stolen from the premises.

A large amount of cash was also stolen from a home in Peel Street. A lock was forced to gain entry and several rooms ransacked on Saturday whilst the owner was out.
Police ask all Bathurst residents to ensure all windows and doors are kept locked and to report any suspicious behaviour.
Meanwhile thieves forced their way into a storage container on Mount Panorama and stole a quantity of fuel. The theft occurred sometime between 5pm on the July 17 and and 3.30pm on July 19.

TAKE a look in your back shed, or that box of old stuff in your spare room - you may just have a missing piece of Bathurst's fire history.
From 1887 to 1963 the city's original fire station stood on William Street (on the current site of the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre) until it was demolished when a new station opened on George Street (next to Auto One).
Bathurst Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) deputy captain Dave Pennells said the only thing he knows was saved in the demolition was the station's old observation tower, but he is hopeful someone might have saved the station's plaque.

In the 15th stage of the Tour de France overnight, Bathurst cyclist Mark Renshaw notched up yet another top five performance.
In a thrilling finish which saw a two-man breakaway caught in the final metres, Renshaw started his sprint a fraction earlier than his rivals but could not quite hold them off.
He took four hours, 56 minutes and 43 seconds to cover the 222 kilometre leg from Tallard to Nimes.

With the finals of the winter sports competitions drawing closer, the pressure is on for all Bathurst teams to pick up as many competition points as possible. Some teams handled that pressure well over the weekend, while others fell short in their quest. Here is a brief wrap:
RUGBY LEAGUE: A Steve Lane field goal has proven the difference as Oberon delivered an upset win over St Pat's on Saturday in Group 10 premier league. In a thrilling conclusion to a hard-fought contest, St Pat's half Garry Reilly had a tough shot at goal from the touch-line to try and give his team a win, but his shot was waved away as the Tigers triumphed 23-22.
Panthers have kept their season alive and increased doubts over Orange CYMS' title defence after a brutal encounter in Group 10 premier league at the Bathurst Sportsground. The hosts won the contest 18-10 amid a handful of injuries, including one to luckless hooker Luke Carpenter that may have ended his season.
RUGBY UNION: CSU made it three Central West Rugby Union victories on the trot after a 20-13 triumph over Narromine at University Oval on Saturday. It wasn't the best performance from the students - far from it in fact - but they showed plenty of determination against the Gorillas, who were still in the match right up until the final few seconds.
The Bathurst Bulldogs have taken a giant step in securing a semi-final position after a 27-21 win over Cowra on Saturday. A disappointing start cost the Eagles on their home ground, in what developed into a quality game of rugby.
HOCKEY: It has taken 16 rounds for Jess Watterson to be able to play for Souths in the women's Premier League Hockey competition and while her game time on Saturday against Confederates was limited, she still showed why she is so valued by the two blues. In her three 10-minute stints on the field she scored three goals and also played a role in another as Souths posted a commanding 6-0 win away from home.
It took a Kelly Baker goal two minutes from full-time to give Bathurst City a share of the competition points in their match against Lithgow Panthers, her side drawing 1-all.
Parkes dealt St Pat's women's team a big blow, defeating them 3-2 at the Cooke Hockey Complex. It means the Saints must win both their remaining matches and hope other results work in their favour in order to make the finals.
It was better news for the St Pat's men's Premier League Hockey side, which firmed as title favourites thanks to an 8-2 win over Lithgow Panthers.
Meanwhile a-four goal blitz in the opening 17 minutes helped Souths' men to an important 5-1 win over Orange Wanderers.

In national news today:
AMID the angry tears and prayers for peace and justice for those Australians killed on flight MH17, one simple message rang true: "Let's bring them home."
The words were uttered by Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove but his lament was shared by some 2000 mourners at Sydney's St Mary's Cathedral. Millions more were pausing to grieve for the at least 37 Australian citizens and residents shot from the sky over Ukraine, Sir Peter said.
ALLISON Baden-Clay lambasted her husband Gerard for ''the complete destruction of the trust I thought we had'' after learning of his affair with a colleague - shortly before he killed her.
The Seven Network's Sunday Night program aired details of a letter she wrote to her husband, describing her ''complete disbelief'' about his affair with fellow real estate agent Toni McHugh.
''What you had with her was not real. It was a boy's fantasy with an adrenaline rush every time you were sneaking about,'' Mrs Baden-Clay wrote.
WAYNE Bennett phoned Lachlan Murdoch on yesterday, convincing the News Corporation boss he could turn around the struggling Broncos, paving the way for him to be announced as head coach of the Brisbane team as early as today.

And making regional news:
GULGONG Chamber of Commerce is encouraging the town's residents to support their post office in the most practical way possible - by walking through the door to find out about the services and products it offers.
Like many licensed post offices (LPOs) across NSW, Gulgong Post Office is struggling to remain viable with the commissions currently paid by Australia Post.
Under a 21-year-old agreement between Australian Post and its licensees, commissions paid to LPOs have fallen around 40 per cent behind cost increases.
THREE magistrates will serve western NSW from a Dubbo base from next year in a move the state member Troy Grant hopes will benefit towns hit by crime.
The Dubbo MP said it was his hope living locally would help magistrates hand down sentences which reflected the impact offences had on the community.
IT may be too late to save the life of Orange man Jordan Cheney but he wants to fight hard to save others from a similar fate.
Mr Cheney has shared his struggle with pancreatic cancer in a bid to encourage people to dig deep for the Pancare Foundation, which he hoped would one day help find a way to detect the disease early and ultimately find a cure.
Mr Cheney has fought for 12 months for every extra minute he can spend with his family and loved ones.

In local news today:
BATHURST-based developers Bruce and Rose Bolam are on the move into a spacious new apartment in the central business district.
They have invested $3 million into the former Waratah Hotel building in George Street, which is now known as Read Chambers.
The naming is in honour of Nicholas Read, who built the first hotel on that site in the mid-1800s.
MORE than 50,000 people will be living in Bathurst by 2031 according to the latest projection figures released by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
Figures suggest Bathurst will reach a population of 51,550, and be among the top five fastest growing regional councils over the next 17 years.
When compared with data from 2011, the projections indicate there will be around a 36.4 per cent increase in the number of households in the region by 2031, and a 96.36 per cent increase in the number of residents aged 65 years or older, meaning around 21 per cent of the population will be made up of senior citizens.
BATHURST'S hugely successful Tucker Van could be off the road within months unless new funding can be found.
The Tucker Van's volunteer supporters have been handing out hot meals to the needy for three years, but co-ordinator David Buckby warned its days could be numbered.
Generous corporate donations helped put the Tucker Van on the road in 2010, and since then, a number of local businesses have continued their support of the project through donations of meat and vegetables and help with the cooking.
