The easy-to-read guide shows people how to access Orange, Lithgow and Sydney for health and general-purpose visits.
It has been developed by Bathurst Community Transport in consultation with Bathurst Health Council.
The trip planner evolved from feedback received by Bathurst Community Transport manager Leonie Schumacher, John Kellett from the Bathurst Health Council, Jenni Brackenreg from the Bathurst Health Council, former councillor Paul Haysom, members of the local community and Vicki Lennox, Transport for NSW’s local coordinator.
According to Mrs Schumacher, the group met to discuss problems people have in planning a trip using a combination of public transport timetables and various health service-sponsored transport options.
“Also identified were free shuttle services which are available, but relatively unknown by country residents,” she said.
“A one-off grant was supplied by Transport for NSW Community Transport Agreements under the title ‘Central West Trip Planner Transport Information Initiative’ to cover the printing cost of the guide.”
Mrs Schumacher said that once the grant was approved she and Mrs Brackenreg created the pocket-sized ‘Tardis’ of multi-service information.
“Options contained in the guide include information for free shuttles, trains, planes and buses, plus user-friendly apps and websites,” she said. “Additionally, phone numbers are included for those who do not have access to the internet.”
The Trip Planner will be distributed in and around Bathurst to health facilities and community outlets.
The guide will also be available online on various websites, including that of Bathurst Community Transport (www.bctg.com.au).
