A MAN who was charged following a violent pub attack has been jailed, with the sentence wholly suspended under Section 12, after appearing before Bathurst Local Court.

The matter against Liam Robinson, formerly of Beyers Avenue, Hill End, but now of no fixed abode, appeared before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court.
Police facts tendered to the court told how Robinson met up with two women and a man at the Royal Hotel, Hill End on the afternoon of June 14 this year where they all consumed alcohol.
At around 5.30pm, Robinson grabbed the male victim by the shirt and said to him: “You are a dog.”
The victim left the area and informed bar staff, who approached Robinson and said it would be best if he left the room.
On the way out, the victim said something to the accused about being “mummy’s little boy” and Robinson swung his right arm and punched the victim to the side of the head, causing the victim to fall to the floor.
While the victim was lying on the floor on his side, Robinson began kicking the victim in the head and chest.
People standing nearby tried to intervene and separate Robinson from the victim, but Robinson picked up a pool queue, held it above his head and threw it at one of the women.
The victim was moved out of the pool room suffering cuts to his upper and lower right eyebrow, swelling to his head and bruising to his ribs.
The incident wasn’t reported to police until after the attack.
On June 18, police spoke to Robinson, arrested him and cautioned him as to his right of silence.
Police gave him the opportunity to be interviewed, but he declined, saying: “I’ll save my side for court.”
On the common assault charge, Robinson was imprisoned for eight months, wholly suspended under Section 12.
On the assault occasioning actual bodily harm charge, he was jailed for 12 months, also wholly suspended under Section 12.
