Nicholas Edward Bright, 22, of Logan Street Eglinton, appeared before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court on Monday, July 28, facing a charge of common assault.
Police facts tendered to the court told how on June 19 this year, Bright and the victim were drinking alcohol together. At 1.30am on June 20, they became involved in a heated verbal argument.
The fight upset Bright, who left and went to a friend’s house, but returned about 15 minutes later, and the verbal argument continued.
The victim asked Bright if he “had calmed down yet” and he said “no” adding “don’t talk to me, shut your [expletive] mouth”.
Bright then stood up and swung his right arm, hitting the victim on the left arm above the elbow before throwing a glass at her feet.
He then followed her, pushing both his arms in her back causing the victim to fall over hitting her knee and right elbow on the ground. A short time later police attended and spoke to the victim and sighted bruising on her elbow.
Police arrested Bright and he made admission to them that he had “snapped” and hit the victim on the arm.
Mr Allen convicted Bright, fining him $400.
