The Western Advcoate is a big fan of motorsport legend Jim Richards.
Gentleman Jim was honoured yesterday, with an internal road in the paddock area at Mount Panorama named after him.
It was recognition for the goodwill Jim has brought Bathurst and the famous circuit over many years.
The Western Advocate notes that it wasn’t that long ago that Jim was asked if he would like to have a road at Mount Panorama with his name on it.
Naturally he was chuffed at the suggestion, but it turned out the Geographical Naming Board has an edict that you have to be dead before a public road can be named after you.
We contacted Jim with the news and the racer quipped that he would therefore not be in any hurry to have this honour bestowed on him.

The Rural Notebook is in the newspaper today. Here is a little of John Seaman's column:
THE Norwegian weather site is predicting about 25mm for the Bathurst basin starting late on Saturday and continuing through to Monday morning.
I hate to measure rain before it falls, but this would be a great start to spring as the district looks a bit threadbare at present.
Surface water supplies have dwindled to seriously low levels, and stormy spring rains to cause water to run off into storages is needed.
Inquiries for baled hay and silage are being met with high quoted prices and very low quantities available for sale.
For those who know any really good prayers, could you please say them three times daily and hope that the Norwegian forecast is accurate.
Diary dates
■ Saturday, August 16: BMA Ram Expo and dog auction, Bathurst Showground 10am-3pm.
■ Saturday, August 30: Burraga Sheep Show.
