William Kennedy, 22, of Lunar Avenue in Dubbo, appeared before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court.
The court heard how on Christmas Eve last year the victim and Kennedy were together when the victim took a call from her father asking her over for Christmas Day. Kennedy became upset at not being invited and began abusing the victim, calling her a “fat slut”.
The victim ignored him, so Kennedy began to physically assault her.
Following the assault, the victim confided in a friend about ongoing domestic violence.
The friend contacted the victim’s father, who told the victim to call police, but she said she was too scared.
The victim then walked across the road to a neighbouring house, where Kennedy had gone. While there he grabbed her arm and tried to pull her. A man at the house told Kennedy to “get his hands off her” and Kennedy told the man to “[expletive] off”.
On the common assault charge, Mr Allen placed Kennedy on a Section 9 Bond for a period of 12 months and placed him under the supervision of the Probation and Parole service.
On a fail to appear matter, Mr Allen dealt with the charge by way of a Section 10 A.
