Since 2007 The RSPCA has been running the nationwide Cupcake Day to help raise funds for its fight against animal cruelty.
The event has already gained the support of celebrity chefs such as Curtis Stone and Pete Evans, but the RSPCA encourages everyone to participate, even if you are not a professional baker.
Sunrise host Natalie Barr is the most recent celebrity to join the Cupcake Day A-list, adding her delicious buttercake recipe to the RSPCA website.
Inviting everyone to register online and bake,
each cupcake sold is a $2 donation directly to the animal cruelty cause.
This year will be the second year that Stewart Street Veterinary Hospital has been involved in the event, and veterinary nurse James Wright is eager to get more people involved.
“Last year we raised $750 and this year we hope to top it,” he said.
More than $85,000 has already been donated across Australia for the national campaign.
The RSPCA relies on these fundraising events to continue to help animals in need.
“The money we raise will go straight to the RSPCA where just $10 can help an animal who can’t fend for itself,” Mr Wright said.
Along with the clinic’s staff, Mr Wright has enlisted the help of clients who will also be making cupcakes for the day.
Stewart Street Veterinary Hospital will have a stall at Bathurst City Centre on Saturday, August 23 selling both human and puppy-friendly cupcakes.

The Western Advocate is also supporting Cupcake Day this year. Advocate staff will enjoy a special morning tea this morning and make a donation to the RSPCA.
