A WOMAN who punched a man in the face during a heated argument over a child has been convicted and fined $300.

Nicole Amelia Baker, 37, of Osman Street in Blayney, appeared before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court on Monday, August 11, facing charges of destroy/damage property and common assault.
The court heard how on August 9 this year police attended a house in Osman Street after a man contacted them to say he had been assaulted.
The court also heard that Baker had returned home after consuming alcohol at the Tattersals Hotel in Blayney.
As she walked into the property, Baker was aggressive and angry.
Baker started swearing and continued her abuse in the house. She yelled abuse at a man in the house which ultimately ended in a physical altercation where Baker punched the victim with a closed fist twice, causing immediate pain.
The victim called the police, and told them he had an argument with Baker over a child. He told police she was intoxicated and that she had punched him.
Police asked if she used a closed fist and he said “yes”.
In an interview with police Baker admitted to striking the victim in the face.
The destroy damage property charge was dealt with by way of a Section 10 A.
